We are still in the planning stage of the project. Proposed ideas have been prepared by the architects Civic London and other design and construction professionals, with these having been presented as part of the ongoing consultation process for planning at two separate pre-application meetings. Feedback from the consultation process will be incorporated alongside other stakeholder comments as we move forwards toward an overall planning submission.
We are now entering a period of co-design with those who will be most affected by the building to shape specific parts of the interior that partners may occupy.
The images on this page show the vison for the Centre, but these may change as we take on board feedback from various stakeholders. We can say that the Centre will likely include the below Strategic Connections and Benefits.
The creation of the Centre for Urban Sustainability is an iterative process. It is part of a continuum of projects, programmes and people who are seeking connectivity and opportunities to maximise their work. Hence the idea of a main node in a network of activity.
We have undertaken a significant amount of stakeholder engagement with our local communities to understand their views and needs with regards to the Centre. As part of our wider consultation plans, we launched an online survey in October 2024 which was open to everyone who lives and works in the local area. The themes which emerged from the feedback were then examined to shape further adjustments to the building.
