Our commitment is to make our Estate more accessible, usable and permeable for everyone and we want our communities to understand the strategic importance of the Trust as an organisation for empowerment.
As part of our ongoing planning processes, we have been investing in the spaces and buildings across our 23 acres. Whilst there has not been any major construction since 2000 (apart from Bay 20 in 2018), over the past five years we have successfully brought back into use or created 11 new spaces and 2 meanwhile spaces.
Our most recent improvements include the Community Street Project, which included the transformation of Acklam Village on the eastern side of the Estate. We are also refurbishing Bay 20 which was originally gifted to the community as part of the BBC’s DIY SOS following the Grenfell Tower fire. Across the western end of the Estate, we are in the process of planning the refurbishment and improvement of the Westway Sports Centre and consulting on the future of Stable Way.
Building on the above momentum, we are now focusing our attention on the heart of the Estate, with a proposal to build a Centre for Urban Sustainability. Our aim is to make this central area a place dedicated to health and wellbeing.
As these projects take shape, we will share updates here, particularly information about when you can come and share your ideas about what’s going on, so please check back regularly for the latest news.
