Kensington Speech and Language Clinic CIC is pleased to offer a free, small-group intensive reading programme for children aged 6–10 years who are experiencing difficulties with reading.
The programme will run from September 2026 to December 2026, every Monday at 4-5:30pm. Sessions will be delivered by a Speech and Language Therapist and a SEND Teacher, working together to provide targeted, structured and supportive reading intervention.
The main aim is to help children make meaningful progress in their reading skills within the 3-month programme. Sessions will be intensive and tailored to the needs of the children in the group.
The programme may support areas such as:
• Phonics and decoding
• Reading accuracy
• Reading fluency
• Vocabulary and understanding
• Reading comprehension
• Confidence when reading
• Identifying and addressing barriers that may be affecting reading development
Parental/guardian involvement is essential. This is an intensive programme, and children are expected to attend every Monday session wherever possible. Parents/guardians will also be expected to support their child’s learning between sessions and follow any reading activities or recommendations provided by the professionals.
As spaces are very limited, we ask families to only apply if they are able to make the required commitment.
The programme is intended for children who:
• Will be aged 6–10 years in September 2026
• Are experiencing difficulties with reading
• Would benefit from a small, intensive group intervention
• Have a parent/guardian who can commit to regular attendance and supporting learning at home
