This course is designed to develop a basic knowledge of the adult social care sector. It covers the type of job roles and services within it, the role of communication and the importance of valuing the individuals being cared for.
Yes. All students will undertake an initial assessment to assess sufficient understanding of maths and English language before starting the course.
You need a reasonable level of spoken and written English and basic maths skills. You will need to attend an advice and guidance session before starting this course.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can work at Level 1.
You will learn in a supportive and welcoming environment with an emphasis on your discovering how to do and complete tasks, with guidance from the tutor.
You will work on your own and with other students on different tasks so you are always practising important in-demand life and work skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, prioritising, negotiating, collaborating and independence. You will learn in a step-by-step manner so you can complete challenging tasks in enjoyable and relaxing ways.
Formative assessment will take place throughout the course with a final portfolio of evidence produced at the end. There are no examinations on this course.
You are required to carry out homework to pass this qualification.
You will need a pen, some lined A4 paper and a file to keep your work in.
Your tutor will provide handouts and worksheets and let you know if there are any other resources that you might need to get.
