What is the course about?

Whether you’re new to using a computer, tablet or smartphone, this course will help you develop the knowledge you need to use technology safely and effectively in everyday life. 

What topics will we cover? 
  • How to turn on and use a device. 
  • Connect to Wi-Fi.
  • Browse the internet. 
  • Set up and use email. 
  • Online safety. 
  • Protecting your personal information.
  • Using passwords.
  • Accessing public services online.
By the end of the course you should be able to 
  • How to use a device.
  • Stay connected and use emails. 
  • Find information online.
  • Stay safe online. 
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?  

What kind of activities will I be doing? 

This is a hands-on, practical course with lots of support from your tutor.  

You’ll build your digital confidence at your own pace, with the chance to ask questions and practise what you learn in a relaxed setting. 

You will need to do practice outside the classroom.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I will I need to bring? Where can I get this? What do we provide? 

You will need a pen, paper and a file to keep your work in. Your tutor will provide handouts.
