Community Fundraising

This fully-accredited, 10-session practical course will support you to develop your fundraising skills and raise more money for your organisation. Find out more about this course’s accreditation.

By the end of the course, you will have increased your understanding of the importance of values, safeguarding, health and safety, legal structures and monitoring and evaluation, theory of change and budgeting. You will also boost your confidence, knowledge, skills, and creativity!

Trainers:

This course will be facilitated by Bashir Hassan and Claire Standring.

Claire Standring brings over 35 years’ experience of fundraising, teaching, training and mentoring. She was proud to receive an award in 2022 from the Partnership of Supplementary Schools in RBKC in recognition of her 25 years of dedication and commitment to the supplementary school community.

Bashir Hassan is a Director of Maxilla City CIC and Trustee of Volunteer Centre Kensington & Chelsea. He is also a capacity building consultant supporting local organisations to streamline operations in order to maximise public benefit.

Entry and Eligibility Requirements

For Individuals

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Residency: Applicants must be a resident in one of the five North Kensington wards: Colville, Dalgarno, Golborne, Notting Dale or St. Helen’s.
• Interest and motivation: Applicants should have an interest in developing a career or pathway in fundraising.
• English language requirement: If English is not the applicant’s first language, the applicant will need the capacity to study in English, up to an Entry Level 3 (EL3) ESOL qualification or above, or an equivalent qualification.

For Organisations

Organisations applying to participate must meet the following requirements:

• One learner per organisation: Each organisation may nominate one participant to take part in the course.
• English language requirement:  If English is not the nominated applicant’s first language, the applicant will need to have capacity to study in English, up to an Entry Level 3 (EL3) ESOL qualification or above, or an equivalent qualification.
• Annual turnover: The organisation must have an annual turnover of less than £100,000.
• Location of service delivery: The organisation’s service delivery must be based in one of the five North Kensington wards: Colville, Dalgarno, Golborne, Notting Dale or St. Helen’s.
• Fundraising and bid-writing aspirations: The organisation should have an aspiration to develop its fundraising and/or bid-writing capacity to support the growth and development of the organisation.
