What is the course about? 

This course provides learners with a detailed knowledge of the causes of climate change. You will be able to recognise its many impacts and identify actions to tackle climate change at individual, organisational and global levels.  With this qualification, learners will gain knowledge and confidence to act as drivers of positive change within the workplace and at home. This course will empower learners to use their green skills and awareness to engage with climate change and bring about positive change. 

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications? 

You should have a genuine interest in this subject  

You will require good literacy and IT skills 

You will require a reliable internet connection and use of a device – A smartphone is not always compatible 

Please note: You must be 19+ to apply for this course. 

What will I cover on the course: 

To be awarded the Ascentis Level 2  Award in Carbon Awareness and the Impact of Climate Change you will complete the following units: 

  • Understand the nature of greenhouse gases and how human activities are contributing to the increasing concentrations in the atmosphere.  
  • Understand how increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases link to the current impacts of climate change.  
  • Understand how the choices made by individuals, communities, organisations and governments can reduce the impacts of global climate change.
How will I be taught and assessed? Will there be any work outside the class? 

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve all 3 mandatory units. 

This course is completed via distance learning with the support of a qualified tutor who will provide supported delivery approach and advice until all the units are complete.

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get? 

You will need a pen, some lined A4 paper and a file to keep your work in.  

Your tutor will provide handouts and worksheets and let you know if there are any other resources that you might need to get.

What will I achieve?  

By the end of the course you should be able to: 

  • Understand the basics of climate change science and how we know it’s a problem. 
  • Have explored how climate change is impacting us all now and how it will in the future.
  • Be able to identify ways that you and your organisation can take action to reduce emissions, benefiting from this in the process.
When I finish, what should I be able to do next? 

There are few courses you can do after this course. These include:  

  • Ascentis level 1 Award in Preventing Plastic Pollution.  
  • Various sustainability courses in the creative industry offered by Morley College. 

 On successful completion of this course, learners will receive an Ascentis Level 2 Award in Carbon Awareness and the Impact of Climate Change.
