The Westway Winter Street Parade recently lit up Portobello Road, marking the winter solstice with over 80 participants parading through Golborne and Portobello Road from local community groups, including Bay Sixty6 Skate Park and Renegade Theatre. The vibrant event featured drumming by Tribo and Samba Wednesday, enchanting performances by the Portobello Choir, and thematic elements, such as a ghost deer which captured the essence of winter. The chosen location, Portobello Road, added a festive touch to the celebration, drawing an enthusiastic turnout from the community. But our partners and ourselves at Westway were thrilled by the success with plans to expand the community participation and organise a much larger-scale event in the future.
