The Westway Sports Centre is one of the most used and well-loved parts of the Westway Estate. It includes a wonderful national level climbing facility, a full-size football pitch, tennis courts and a gym amongst other facilities.
Sports Centre Refurbishment – Hearing Your Views
The last time the Sports Centre was fully refurbished was 2017. We are pleased that as part of our improvements to facilities across the estate it will now undergo staged refurbishment. As part of our planning, we want to hear from our communities and users of the Sports Centre.
We want to explore how facilities can be better used and how we might reduce barriers to participation. Encouraging physical activity is very much part of the overall vision of the Westway Trust for, “Happier, healthier and more prosperous communities.”
We know that more people could be using the Sports Centre and your feedback will help us refresh and make a facility one that could better serve our communities and specific groups.
How We Will Engage With You
Through January to March 2026, we are commencing engagement with key community groups and organisations, who are both current users or non-users to help build this early picture.
To make it as easy as possible for all users of the Sports Centre to share their views, from Monday 19 January 2026, for a minimum two week period, we are setting up three feedback boards inside the leisure centre. These boards will allow you to quickly share your thoughts using post-it notes across three themes:
- What you like about the centre now
- What could be improved
- What activities or opportunities the centre may be missing.
To support this, members of the team will also be available in person on:
- Monday 19 January – 4:00pm–8:00pm
- Tuesday 20 January – 4:00pm–8:00pm
The feedback captured on these boards will provide live, honest and useful insight that will directly inform the early stages of this project. We hope this approach offers an easy and accessible way for you to share what matters most.
Alongside this, an online surveywill go live on our website on 19 January 2026.
Prize Draw
To thank you for taking the time to complete the survey, all respondents will be entered into a prize draw, with up to three winners selected. Each winner will be able to choose one of the following activity rewards:
- Football: One hour of 5-a-side pitch hire
- Tennis: One hour of tennis court booking
- Climbing: Two casual climbing entry vouchers (for you and/or a plus one)
- Gym: Three guest passes to use at the centre
