What is the course about?

You will focus on when to use present simple, present continuous and past simple. You will practise when to use ‘do’, ‘does’, ‘is’, ‘are’ and ‘did’ in questions and how to say these words.

Is a pre-enrolment interview or assessment required for this course?

Yes, you will need to do a pre-course assessment to establish your level of English before enrolling onto the course.

What level is the course and do I require particular skills, experience or prior qualifications?

This course is for people new to learning English but who are not complete beginners. It will help anyone who is confused about the key grammar needed to communicate in everyday life.

What topics does the course cover?
  • Speaking and writing about life in general using present simple.
  • Speaking and writing about activities taking place now using present continuous.
  • Speaking and writing about past finished events using past simple.
  • Asking and answering questions about everyday topics happening now, in the past and in general – using ‘do’, ‘does’, ‘did’, ‘is’, ‘are’, ‘am’ correctly.
  • Using good pronunciation when asking and answering everyday questions describing things using easy adjectives.
  • Listening for key words in short conversations.
  • Writing simple messages, emails and letters.
  • Counting, telling the time, using maths words.
How will I be taught and assessed? Will there be any work outside the class?

You will learn in a supportive and welcoming environment. The tutor will help you discover rules and features of English.

You will work in pairs or small groups, and sometimes as a whole class.

Your tutor will also work with you individually. Everything that you learn will help you in your daily life.

You will need to do work outside the classroom.

Are there any other costs or equipment I need to get?

You will need a pen, some lined A4 paper and a file to keep your work in.

Your tutor will provide handouts and worksheets and let you know if there are any other resources that you might need to get.

What will I achieve?
