History of Supplementary Schools

Many of the Supplementary Schools in RBKC are community-based. When different communities, for example, the Caribbean, Ukrainian, Moroccan, settled in the UK, especially in London, they quickly found the need to support their children’s education. The existing school system was not fully equipped to cater to the unique needs of these communities, particularly in terms of language and cultural preservation/expression. This is where supplementary schools stepped in, providing the necessary support and ensuring that these communities’ cultural, linguistic, and religious heritage was not lost.
