Sports Grants Funding for Individuals

Sports training grants

The Trust’s sports training grants scheme aims to help people over 16 who live in RBKC to pay for training courses which could lead to employment in the sport and fitness industry. The Trust has set aside £2,500 for the sports training grants in 2009/2010 and the maximum grant is normally £300.

RBKC Sports Development runs a sports training grants scheme to help 16-19 year olds living in RBKC to pay for training courses which could lead to employment in the sport and fitness industry.

Guidelines

Westway Development Trust’s sports training grant scheme assists local people with the fee (and in some cases books, travel costs, and materials) for part-time or short sports courses, which qualify them to coach or instruct groups or individuals.

A national recognised National Governing Body must run the course. Grants will not be made where fees have already been paid. The Trust has set aside £4,000 for Sports Training Grants in 2008/09 and the maximum grant to any individual is normally £300 per year.

Conditions of sport training grants – applicants must:

  • Live in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea
  • Priority to people aged 19-30 years but anyone aged over 16 can qualify
  • Not be in full-time employment
  • Supply the name of one referee and any other information reasonably requested by the Trust
  • Report on the use of their grant
  • Successful applicants will be expected to work 10 hours voluntarily on the Trust’s sport projects

Priority will be given to:

  • Applicants who are participating in courses run by the Trust
  • Applicants who are involved in work placements with the Trust
