Traffic SignsA temporary [minimum one year-long] installation financed through the Royal Borough's North Kensington Environment Project. Produced by Urban Projects. Traffic Signs mirrors the tail-lights above on a development site which is part of the wider Maxilla Walk regeneration site which the Trust won planning permission to redevelop during 2006. This £20million plus scheme is envisaged as based around health and education usages with some complementary commercial (B1) elements. It also incorporates the site of a youth training facility and a nursery and children's centre. The Trust is currently seeking partners for elements of this exciting urban regeneration scheme adjacent to the Trust's iconic Westway Sports Centre site. |

Westways new bouldering wall opened to the public for the first time on Saturday 10th November 2007. To celebrate the launch, we hosted Round 1 of the West vs East Boulder Bash, a fun bouldering competition. The new wall seems to have surpassed everybody's expectations and the atmosphere at the opening was buzzing! Lighting Up The Green - launched 22nd May 2006The Trust commissioned artists to design and deliver a new lighting scheme for the Trust's Portobello Green park adjacent to Thorpe Close and the Portobello Road Market Tent. The scheme aims to enhance the safety of the park through increasing night-time lighting and to provide a tranquil and enagaging experience for its users. Installation is now complete, after a few initial problems and the coloured light totems, colour-changing pathway lights, uplighters and other features are all in action - the official launch took place on Monday May 22nd 2006.The Artists Jane Penty and Julie Millar designed a number of unique elements including pathway lighting, internally illuminated benches, uplighting of trees and several specially manufactured light totems which cast gentle patterned and coloured light across what were previously dark areas of the park. The park is already well-used on summer evenings and it is hoped that the new scheme will both increase and broaden usage, as well as making an attractive visual contribution to the area. The lighting scheme was part-funded by WREF - the Western Riverside Environmental Fund.

| The all-weather training pitches | |

The all-weather training pitches at Westway Sports Centre are floodlit and perfectly positioned. The five Tiger AG pitches are below the road and benefit from its protection, there are 3 five-a-sides, a six-a-side and an eight-a-side. These are the most advanced artificial pitches available with grass-like playing characteristics, you can even play on them in studs. There is also a full-size Astroturf pitch with a small grandstand alongside the Westway |

The Westway Sports Centre has 8 indoor tennis courts plus the only 4 public clay courts in London. These pictures show the courts in action including our squad players playing with Venus Williams at Westway on June 21st 2002 in games to promote the US/GB Inner City Tennis Two Nations Challenge. Westway players Ali Saidi and Meera Patel both took games off Venus - who said they were serving a few too many aces for her liking! |

| BONFIRE NIGHT FIREWORK DISPLAY - Maxilla Gardens Friday 3rd November 2006 | |

This year's event was FREE to everyone and usual and took place on Friday November 3rd from 6.15pm in Maxilla Gardens W10.
Everyone present agreed that this really was the best yet and we certainly gave anyone driving along the Westway that evening a good show as well!
The bonfire was decorated with guys made by local children through Trust-funded workshops over the half-term holiday in three local playcentres. The evening commenced with the Mayor of Kensington & Chelsea, lighting the bonfire and the Borough Council also made a small contribution toward the cost of the evening. |

| The Portobello Market Tent | |

The Portobello Market Tent houses the organic produce market on Thursdays. On Fridays and at the weekend numerous stalls sell new and retro fashion, clothes, collectables and bric-a-brac. In June 2003 after fifteen years service the tent was totally replaced with a new covering which is whiter and allows 40% more light through to the stalls below. The picture on the left shows the original covering while other pictures show the new tent taking shape. The last 2 photos above show one of the new tents more original recent uses - hosting Moroccan fans watching Morocco beat Mali 4 nil in the African Nations Cup on Wednesday 12th February 2004!
