Westway Trust needs residents’ opinions on horse riding and other sports
This survey is now closed. We would like to thank everyone who took part. Your views are important to us and will help inform the review of equestrianism and other sports facilities that is currently taking place. We will update the community on the progress and outcomes of the review through our website and social media.
As part of a major review of equestrianism and other sports facilities, we are asking residents to take part in our new survey and share their views.
The survey will take about five minutes and can be completed online. Hard copies will also be available from:
Westway Trust offices 1, Thorpe Close and Westway Sports Centre on Crowthorne Road.
The survey is open now and will close on 8 June.
Westway Trust’s Chief Executive, Angela McConville, said: "We take our commitment to the local community seriously. Improving health and well-being is central to our future plans. Our sports facilities and services are at the heart of this and we are busy working on plans for how we continue to deliver excellent sports facilities over the next five to ten years.
"In shaping this work, we would like to know more about the sports people enjoy, why they take part, and what the benefits are, both to themselves and to the wider community. We also want to understand better the barriers local people face in participating in sport, whether cost, or lack of facilities. We are particularly interested in local experiences of and aspirations for horse riding, as part of our Equestrian Review.
She adds: "I am very keen that we hear as many views as possible from the community in shaping these proposals and I am optimistic that at least 500 people will participate in the survey and focus groups we have commissioned".
A Steering Group involving local people and sector experts has been set up to oversee the review, working with an independent consultant, David Gadsby. Market research specialists DJS Research are managing the residents’ survey.
The survey, which will be anonymous, is open to residents living in Westway Trust’s area of benefit.
