Small Education & Training Grants Guidelines

Who can apply and what grants can be used for?

The Trust’s Small Education & Training Grants Scheme assists residents in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) with small grants towards the costs of training or education courses that lead to certificates or qualifications with a view to gaining employment. £20,000 has been set-aside for 2009/10 and the maximum grant is £1000, unless we consider there are exceptional circumstances.

Grants will be considered towards the cost of:

  • Course fees
  • Required books
  • Equipment
  • Materials
  • Travel costs
  • Child-minding costs

Conditions of small education grants – applicants must:

  • Live in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
  • Not be in full time employment
  • Not already be enrolled on a course, or be more than half way through a course
  • Be in need of financial assistance and not be able to get a grant from a statutory authority to cover the expenses of the course
  • Supply the names of a referee and any other information reasonably requested by the Trust
