Enterprise & Young People

Westway supports young people in Kensington and Chelsea with a variety of programmes aimed to foster creative, entrepreneurial or sporting ambitions. By providing opportunities for young people, with the involvement of schools, mentors and community groups, we can offer unique and invaluable experiences that young people might not otherwise have access to.

Entrepreneurs of the future

Once again, Portobello Market will soon be playing host to budding young entrepreneurs with a series of trade fairs scheduled for the new academic year.
Local schools participating in Young Enterprise London’s flagship Company Programme will have the opportunity to promote, market and sell their service or product direct to the public and pick up prizes along the way for the Best Sales Person, Best Stall and Best Service or Best Product.

During this academic year, over 280 teams participated in the Young Enterprise Company Programme. Each company was required to elect a board of directors, raise share capital and then sell their product and services in their communities with vital support from their teachers and business volunteers from their local communities.

Students learn through hands-on experience how to run their own company and what it takes to be an entrepreneur. They also learn to develop the life skills needed to enhance both personal and career development as well as see the positive side of business. This year’s winners were St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College who took home the title of Best Overall Company.
