Our constitution provides for seven Trustees to be nominated by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Some of these are Councillors and others are individuals with areas of expertise helpful to the Trust. Another seven Trustees are elected by our Member Organisations.
These Trustees appoint an independent Chairman and there are powers to co-opt three further Trustees if appropriate.
Trustees are all voluntary and unpaid posts. Each Trustee is required to act in the best interests of the Trust as guided by The Charity Commission and the law. Trustees are not representatives of the body that nominates them.
Acting together, the board of Trustees guide the Trust through the many decisions required to be made to most effectively deliver our promises and to decide on the charitable priorities of the Trust, within the constraints of the charitable objectives.
Given the wide range of the Trust’s activities, we have established four sub-committees to monitor the activities of the Trust on a regular basis:
Trustees are also Directors of the company and are obliged to comply with the responsibilities of a Director as set out in company law.
